About

Gary and Laurie have been in youth ministry since the early 1980’s when they spent time as summer camp counselors. After graduating from college, both went through a youth ministry training program, and were placed in churches in Grove City and Fremont, Ohio. They have been in congregational youth ministry ever since.

Gary has also been the Director of the Animal and Nature Assisted Therapy Programs at the Buckeye Ranch (a residential treatment facility), spent several years as a High School Tennis Coach, and has spent twenty-plus years teaching teenagers how to drive. Teaching teens how to drive was his way of relaxing!

Laurie also enjoys quilting, nature walks, photography, and having coffee with friends. She enjoys going on mission trips with the church.

For ten years the couple operated a licensed treatment therapeutic foster care home for teenage boys. They both agree this was not relaxing, but it was a great experience!

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Gary has a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice and a master’s degree in not-for-profit administration and management. Originally from northwest Ohio, Laurie has a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Both have a great passion for passing on the Christian faith to young people.

Married in 1986, the couple has based their ministry out of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio. In addition, Gary and Laurie provide consultation to 650+ congregations on the topic of ministry to children, youth and families.

Their personal mission is “To Equip God’s people with the Necessary Faith Skills to Live Out Their Personal Calling in Life.”  The couple has been blessed beyond measure in their 30+ years in ministry and are being called to give back, expand, and reach out to others who care about the formation of faith among children and youth.
